Below is the full version of a customer review of 7Digital that I tried to post on April 08, 2014 through the Google Play store. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to post the entire review to the Google Play Store due to space constraints. Please note that I will update this entry periodically to share any progress (or lack thereof). Feel free to share your own experience.
============================================
7Digital is great, as long as it works properly. But dare it not, good luck, it seems you are on your own!
Right now, I cannot recommend this service and its application (from google play) to anybody!
What’s my issue?
I switched devices, i.e. I upgraded my old Samsung tablet (8.4) to a new one (tabpro 10.1). I installed 7Digital from the Google Playstore and attempted to download my music that I previously purchased through 7Digital. The app fails to download any music and instead reminds me each time that the download was not successful (and of course encourages me to try again). The same happens with a newly purchased album.
I reached out to 7Digital through their help/customer support section. I did that on March 24 (case number 00019734, March 30 (case number 00019967) and April 04 (case number 00020284). Each time, I was greeted with an auto-reply with very helpful tips such as “try to re-download your purchase” (yeah, didn’t figure that one out on my own…), and all such auto-reply mails ended with an encouraging “Love from 7”.
So, let’s try to be fair and analyze how 7Digital’s service compares to its promises (as per their website, I quote directly!)?
“You can expect a response within 48 hours, or less, during normal business hours […].
Verdict: FAILED. On all my inquiries, we are generously past 7Digital’s self-imposed response deadline (including my most recent request from April 4). Nobody has bothered to connect with me, try to assist or show any Love.
“Purchase a song from us and you can stream or download it instantly. […], you can access it wherever you are, simply by logging-in from any computer or connected device. Perfect if you like to listen to music on several different devices, and great for covering your back, should you ever lose or damage your computer or phone.
Verdict: FAILED. I can’t download instantly. I can’t access it anywhere. I can’t listen to music on several different devices.
As it stands now, I have paid 7Digital money for a library of albums that I am unable to listen to and a service that I have yet to receive. I kindly ask you, show me some Love and tell me how I can get my music back!
For anybody interested in how 7Digital honors its promises, I will share any future updates and progress right here. Also, I will periodically share any feedback (or lack thereof) through what I believe should be the appropriate, corresponding product review submissions on the Google play store until this issue is resolved. My next entry with a star rating will be around April 12 or 13 (weekend).
Love, Daniel.
Obviously this post is a little old now but though I would add that I have had a similar experience with extremely poor customer service from 7digital.
I have moved on to Google music. Much better value.
As one can see above, it took 7Digital a few minutes to find my rather unflattering blog entry and to promise a prompt response (they also responded to the corresponding tweet!). I was indeed contacted by customer support shortly thereafter with the obligatory apology for the delay and a promise to look into matters.
While I appreciate that I was being contacted (really, I mean it, thank you!), I would still like to point to the interesting fact that a customer who chooses a public forum to raise an issue will be prioritized over those who follow the proper path of submitting requests per email and in private.
As it stands, we are currently trying to figure out what my particular issue seems to be. I am confident that this will be resolved soon!
Daniel
